QUOTE OF THE DAY

View this post on Instagram

Marcus Aurelius. Meditations.⠀ ⠀ Who do we want to be? Do we want our emotions to control us? No, because once we allow our emotions to direct our actions, we lose control of our freedom to dictate the course our life.⠀ ⠀ The quote is a great reminder about restraint. And in situations where someone has harmed us, it reminds us to not become that person in our quest for revenge. This becomes a spiral of tit-for-tat if we allow it. ⠀ ⠀ By restraining our need and desire to react in the form of revenge, we grow. Remember what Viktor Frankl said, between stimulus and response there is a moment, and in that moment there is an opportunity for growth. ⠀ ⠀ Don’t react. Embrace the emotions you’re feeling. Embrace your desire to be vengeful but don’t act on it. We become our enemies the second we allow others to dictate the course of our lives through our emotions.⠀ ⠀ Follow @stoicwithin for more daily content⠀ ⠀ #stoicwithin #stoicism #marcusaurelius #seneca #epictetus #motivation #inspiration #success #wisdom #mindset #growth #spirituality #meditation #philosophy #psychology #selfimprovement #quotestoliveby #selfdevelopment #dailystoic #selfdevelopmenttools #awesomequotes #thinker #mastery #adversity #powerfulquotes
